Once upon a tile…
Select Ceramic Tile Centre first opened its doors in a modest, rented location in 1988. Owners Maria & Eric Bartolacci shared much in common: Maria came to Canada from Portugal as a young girl and Eric came from Italy with his family when he was a young boy. Eric started working in his family’s tile business as a teenager. And they both shared a passion for the materials.
Once married, they took their first trip to the industry’s leading trade show in Bologna, Italy. Meeting key leaders in ceramic tile fabrication overseas was the starting point for their new business.
After 6 years, Eric & Maria purchased their current location, a 10,000 square foot building, to showcase and warehouse their growing inventory. As the requirements of clients expanded, so too did their space. After two large expansions, the combined office space, warehouse, workshop and showrooms measure well over 25,000 square feet.
Here, the two family businesses, Bella Marble & Granite and Select Ceramic Tile Centre, blend together in an elegant display of stone, tiles and fixtures.
Our Team
Our team is a family, both in name and in spirit. Co-owners Eric and Maria Bartolacci lead the business and play key roles in the daily operations.
Their daughter, Rosita Bartolacci, is the Operations Manager. She too began to learn about the industry as a teenager, working on the showroom floor and in the office. Sharing her parents’ enthusiasm for the materials and the trade, she has been a steady force in the family business for over 15 years.
Darren Hann is the Architectural Sales Representative. He joined Select in 1999, bringing over 10 years of experience in sales and 5 years of experience in design to our company. In the beginning, Darren serviced retail stores across the Atlantic provinces. Now he is the chief liaison with architects and designers. He travels around the world, meeting with top manufacturers and sourcing specialty products for commercial projects. His knowledge, experience and tenacity are what enable him to obtain the perfect materials for each job.
Krystina Davies C.I.D; CPMC is our Lighting and Design consultant. Krystina has many years of experience in interior decorating, specifically in kitchen and lighting design. With her skilled and diverse background and creative flair; she is truly an asset to our team. She has much experience in the residential sectors as well as commercial. Krystina works with architects, designers, and homeowners, sourcing unique products while keeping you on budget. Whether you are looking for a particular backsplash, or doing a full reno, she loves the creative process and will bring to “light” your dreams. Give her a call to book an appointment!
All the members of our expert sales and design teams are highly skilled and have years of experience under their belts.
